M1 explain mechanisms that can reduce the impact of communication barriers

Background Noise
If the noise is outside of the room then close the doors and windows to block out the noise. If the noise is inside the room then move to a quieter room. If either of these do not work then change the volume of your voice so your voice is louder than the background noise.
These mechanisms can be used to cancel out the background noise and therefore make your voice louder than the background noise. It may work because if your voice is louder than the background noise then your voice will be the prominent noise for people to hear.

Distractions
If the distraction is remove-able then remove it, if not then move to an area where the distraction cannot happen.

Signing
Signing is a mechanism used to communicate between able bodied people and people with hearing impairments. Interpreters are used to communicate between people who use signing and people who don’t understand it.
Signing can be used to communicate with people who have hearing impairments. It may work because it allows communication without the use of voice.
Alternatively people with partial hearing can use a hearing aid so that vocal communication is possible.
